I was born and raised here in Richmond, Va. I grew up with a love for all things sci-fi and comic related, with Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel and DC comics all influencing my imagination. Anime crept in there somewhere, and I can still remember all the words to the title song for the first Anime cartoon I watched - Star Blazers. My favorite is still Dragonball Z, though, and I have the Vegeta tattoo on my left arm to prove it.
Although I started out drawing, writing became the natural extension for my creative output. By the time I got around to taking it seriously, though, I started having children. Raising them came first, and that meant holding down a regular job and bringing in steady income.

And, when I'm working on something, I usually have a steady stream of visuals in my head of where I want it to go. I've had times where I just hit brain overload for the day or was stumped on exactly how I wanted to proceed with a description, etc. I find walking away for a bit to be good. Listening to music. Taking a walk. Or just sitting in a public place and watching or talking to people. Nothing trips the juices like hearing another person's account of something going on in their life or having them just provide a nice distraction.(less)
