I hit the floor and grabbed an aluminum bat and I said to myself, "I may not be alive in a few minutes, but I'm darned sure he won't be eating solid food for the rest of his life."(less)

“And, so. I found out at lunch today, walked down to the Ladies room, threw a Category 5 tantrum—I may have torn a sink off the wall—went back into my office, called for a seaplane reservation at the last possible moment, and the seaplane dropped me into the safest place on the planet I know. Sounion Cove.”

“Ellie Pincrest likely would’ve never gotten on that seaplane if she knew one of the other passengers would be dead before the end of the long Memorial Day weekend.”

“At precisely nine the next morning, Ellie heard the drone of Mac the Pilot’s seaplane engine change as he began his descent toward Sounion. She stood on the dock and looked up in the sky as he banked and extended his flaps for his water landing. It wasn’t until she was walking on to the dock that she thought that James Winnington III could be there as well.”
