Mermaids, Are They Real?

Are you curious, like me about unsolved mermaid mysteries?

Why throughout history and around the world there are so many artworks, legends, and myths surrounding a story about a creature appearing to be half human, and half fish?

Like me, I’m sure you have wondered, is the mermaid myth really true? Well, I can tell you mermaids are real. How do I know? I saw a mermaid under the Sellwood Bridge on a rock hiding in some berry bushes. Yes, I saw a real mermaid.

Let me explain further, I’m here to help you understand meeting a mermaid is not what you would think. How so? Well, from my first hand experience I can easily say a mermaid sighting is difficult to explain.

Why? Because it happens so fast, it’s like a surprise and unexpected. I had never seen a mermaid before or after. I was spellbound and shocked.

The experience was confusing, riddled with fear and doubt. Did I just see a mermaid? No, it’s not mermaid it’s a seal. No, not a seal then what is it? Oh my goodness I saw mermaid.

Why did a mermaid let me see her?

I don’t really know however, after reflection what lingered was a profound respect and deep reverence for the fragile, delicate, and amazing world we live in. The feeling was awesome. Who is this mermaid and what did she want with me?

She said, “Black Fin. My name is Black Fin.” Crazy, right? Perhaps.

More important than just feeling off balance I did feel freer after meeting Black Fin. Free to open my eyes and invite a new view of my surroundings. I felt free to see and discover beauty all around me all the time.

Did Black Fin appear on the rock under the Sellwood Bridge to inspire me to appreciate the sacredness of nature? I wondered.

Still the mind hammered me with questions. Yes, I felt afraid, yet, somewhere somehow inside of myself I knew I couldn’t dismiss what happened to me. I couldn’t shake it off.

And then, I realized the only way I could comprehend what happened to me was to let go of my fear.

I had to fly free of my mental taboos and accept what happened was an experience beyond my current understanding of what is real or not real. Yes, I allowed this magical experience to penetrate my heart.

Then, and only then did I understand the truth behind why Black Fin let me see her.

It became crystal clear what I needed to do. I needed to find the courage to tell the world I saw a mermaid under the Sellwood Bridge on April 10, 2011.

Yes, I saw a real mermaid.

Imagine now the possibility of meeting a real mermaid.

I invite you to journey with me as you read the folklore story of Mermaid Black Fin Under the Sellwood Bridge.

Thank you and many blessings, Catherine
