Stupid or a Risk Taker

Was Seely stupid? Some may say she was. She is definitely not conventional. An end table on both sides of the couch and a coffee table in the middle would freak her out. Marriage wasn't her thing. Plowing her own road through life was enticing. The suggested road was too boring for her. Did she want sympathy for the craziness that awaited? Absolutely not!! She was ready to face each consequence for her decisions. She was a risk taker and remains a risk taker today.

Chapter 8 - Garbage Night

All Seely could focus on was the metal trash can that rested near a tree in front of the car. She envisioned herself bound and crammed inside and then heaved into the Ala Wai, bobbing aimlessly as flotsam toward the ocean, where she would disappear forever.

(She knew nothing. Why were they threating her? Why did they kill Mark?)

Chapter 7 - Cita Mors Ruit–Death Is A Swift Rider

Seely spun around in a panic, but the thick crowd had already swallowed whoever was behind her. She stood frozen, looking through the mass of people drifting from one place to another. Her nerves twitched as she tried to catch her breath.

(Why would someone tell her this? She didn't know him that well. Where was Fausto? Where were the Mafia thugs?)

Chapter 6 - Waste Unmanagement

Although Seely did not want to know or associate with the Mafia thugs, they eventually introduced themselves. She was spooked, and the usual uncanny reflex of her body took over when she was in their company.

(What did they want from her? Who could she go to?)

Chapter 5 - Vice and Villians

"Those are Mafia guys, Seel," whispered Christa. "They never sit with their backs to a door, either. I noticed they sat in your station. I thought you knew about them."

(What did the Mafia want with Seely?)

Chapter 4 - In The Flesh

Another stack of Pat's Place flyers went out the door. There was a steady drift of tourists throught the International Marketplace, and it hadn't taken Seely long to give them all out. As she entered the bar, she could barely get through the crowd.

(It all started so simple.)

Chapter 3 - A Rose By Any Other Name

Seely was susceptible to perverts like some people were to the flu. Many times she found herself alone with some twisted degenerate obsessed with exposing himself or groping at her.

(Alone on her journey, Seely often faced the flawed side of life with no one to turn to.)

Chapter 2 - A Rare Mold

Women were dressed in boho chic with flowers in their hair, and braided headbands made of love beads circled their foreheads and hung down to the side.

Thousands of people attended the Sunshine Festival and Seely was excited watching the steady stream of people entering the crater.

(After Woodstock, the dream of living another lasted for years as three day concerts materialized across the United States.)

Chapter 1 - That Phrase Was Coined

With her uncanny ability to put herself into the now of life and follow the flow of its mysterious beckoning, she forced herself to compose her emotions.

(Seely didn't want to move away from home. She was only seventeen and the world looked intimidating. But she was strong and willing to face the unknown.)
