Hi Alexa,
I am open to all inspirations... Right now I am finishing a novel inspired by Bronislava Nijinska, Vaslav Nijinsky's sister--both fabulous dancers and choreographers who grew up in St. Petersburg. Hi Sara,
Are you concerned with choosing which historical events to write about? Once you understand your characters, you will know what is likely to impact or interest them. It really all depends on the overall goal of your novel. The Anatomy of Story: 22 Steps to Becoming a Master Storyteller by John Truby is a wonderful resource.
Good luck..

One of the best books I have read this year. Slim and powerful, a story of two fugitives. A Russian conscript and a French woman who is escaping a difficult relationship with her Russian love take the same trans-Siberian train... a masterpiece.
