A typical blog response pattern in my Medium posts.

This is a very common pattern with my blogs on Medium. Day 2 typically is the peak on a blog post, with a faster fall-off compared to the slope start.

I will add the data slope to this blog post below in 3 days ;)

The Times Higher Ed blog has this data point on LinkedIn today (out of 175 views so far):

Overall it seems books make more waves in the social data universe. Content in my two books from last year have been downloaded ~13,000 times so far, which I guess is a tad more impressive than 175 blog views on LinkedIn!

Opinion Piece in the Times Higher Education Magazine Migration of my blog ideas to mainstream academic media

This is a first for ye olde academic CV, the only “commissioned article” in the “Other Articles” section. I have recently republished content from an earlier blog in the Times Higher Education Magazine, in a six-author opinion section on ‘the black hole of academic administration’ (it would seem that the section’s title was inspired by my blog). Have a read if you want to see an instance of idea migration from Medium blog to mainstream educational media (you have to register for a free account to the magazine first though).

Maybe a bit like David Bowie, I like to reinvent myself every 10 minutes. Really, I am just curious to know how Medium’s algorithms deal with a sudden deletion of blogs that have earned me Top Writer in Education computational status, i.e. how measurably long it takes for this status to be removed from my profile! Let us see, in the spirit of social media discovery….
