Mark Regan is a Cumbrian author and photographer who has lived and worked in the county all his life. Now in his fifties and based in Workington, he draws on the landscapes, history, industries and dry humour of northern England in his fiction.

He began his working life as a mechanical fitter before retraining in IT, later combining both backgrounds in his work as a health and safety adviser. That mix of machinery, systems and problem-solving informs the practical detail running through his stories, particularly the workshops, tools and mechanical instincts of Jack Daniels.

From zero to five

Hi all, I had the idea for book one and thoughts/ideas floating around for a long time. But writing book 1 opened the flood gates for me, 2, 3, 4 and 5 all flowed. I think that these have completed an arc of Jack becoming Jack, healing, filling the role and growing.
