Murder by Spreadsheet

If a corporation doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger. Right?

Me and General Electric, we have history. Like an 80s slasher movie kind of history.

You see I grew up just outside GE’s headquarters in Pittsfield, MA, and like Sarah Palin could see Russia from her front porch, I could see the twinkling red lights of the GE smokestacks at night from my front lawn.

Glad you liked my POE excerpt - astonishing that it made it considering the competition. I read so many excerpts of books I'd love to buy. Keep trying - one of this year's finalists (Ken Moraff) was a semi-finalist last year. Hope you enjoy the whole book when it's out!

Davonna Juroe Thanks for finding me and for the friendship, J! Congrats on winning the ABNA in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror category. I remember your entry. It was fantastic! I had entered this year too. So great that POE is being released by 47North! All the best to you and your October launch!

J. Fenn midnightfaerie wrote: "And what does Pema mean? :) Thanks for the add!"

Literally Pema means "lotus", but like many words in the Tibetan language, it has layered symbolic meaning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhist.... When I was at a retreat, we used it as shorthand to describe someone who was gentle and kind.

midnightfaerie And what does Pema mean? :) Thanks for the add!

Oh it's terrible. Sunshine. Tradewinds. Ocean for miles...I'll get used to it one day. (I grew up in New England, and have strangely fond memories of snow. Until I remember scraping ice off my windshield with a credit card.)
