K.C. Finn has been writing since 2011, at a time when extreme illness saw her trapped in the house with nothing but her imagination. Since then she's amassed a collection of stories, poems and novels spanning many genres, including fantasy, science fiction, gothic fiction, horror, paranormal and historical works. Her unique and diverse voice has won many awards, and she is both an Amazon and USA Today best-selling writer.

In her free time, K.C. is an eternal student, forever studying and learning more about the world. She travels whenever possible to explore new cultures and climates, and when she's at home she enjoys coaching writers of all ages with a story to tell. She also exercises her flair for the dramatic by directing, writing and oc

Hi Stefania,
Thank you so much for writing to me!
Stirling is one of my favourites too ;) I think the most difficult (and most important) feature in dystopian writing is giving your central character a strong network of allies and enemies. The dystopian genre is usually about a band of characters acting together to overthrow the force which oppresses them, so it was important to me to give Raja strong, likable friends whom the reader could relate to. She's a tough heroine, but she can't take on the world alone! Stirling is a good grounding force for her because they are opposite in a lot of ways, and he makes her stop and think before just rushing into the mission. It's tricky to keep everything in balance! Thank you for your excellent question.
If you haven't done so already, please consider leaving an Amazon review for Legion Lost. Good reviews are the greatest gift you can give to an author!
Lots of love,
K.C.

So far there are 4 books in the Shadeborn series and I am still working on the fifth and final part of Lily and Lemarick's story. Because it's the finale I'm taking my time with it as I want it to really satisfy fans when it's released! After that I plan to expand on the same universe with more stories!
In the meantime I do have some other great series that you can enjoy plus a few volumes of short stories. I hope you'll keep reading my work, and thanks so much for getting in touch.

Support Diversity in YA Fiction - Nominate Legion Lost

Picture Ethnicity. Androgyny. Gender Equality.

It's time to see these things hit the mainstream in young adult fiction. For the past year, I have been trying to gain publication for my new sci-fi dystopian action series 'Legion Lost', and I have been met with rejection everywhere, for the same reason: the heroine is 'too abnormal'.
