Her book, "Creative Grieving: A Hip Chick's Path from Loss to Hope" is a Winner in the 2015 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.

Her journey through grief began in 2008 with the loss of her son at birth, followed by the death of her husband, a soldier, in 2009. With a fresh, personal, and candid voice, Elizabeth takes an integrative approach to the grief journey by incorporating innovative practices she learned through the Model of Heart-Centered Grief. “A feeling of pleasure or solace can be so hard to find when you are in the depths of your grief. Sometimes it's the little things that help get you through the day. You may think your comforts sound ridiculous to others, but there is nothing ridiculous about finding one little thing to help you feel good in the midst of pain and sorrow!”
Elizabeth Berrien, Creative Grieving: A Hip Chick's Path from Loss to Hope

“It is okay to release your feelings when you feel the waves coming. It's all part of the process of having to let go of your relationship with your loved one as you once knew it. And remember, letting go is not the same thing as forgetting!”
Elizabeth Berrien, Creative Grieving: A Hip Chick's Path from Loss to Hope

“The intense roller coaster of emotions will gradually lesson over time. But there is no timeframe for the grieving process, and it will not be rushed, no matter how fast you'd like to "get over it." The reality is that there is no getting over it; you can only walk through it.”
Elizabeth Berrien, Creative Grieving: A Hip Chick's Path from Loss to Hope

“Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.”
Brene Brown

“Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach.”
Clarissa Pinkola Estés

“Nobody wants to be around a miserable self loathing person, would you? Be the person you would want to be with. Create a template for yourself using that philosophy and make the changes, do the work and start developing into a positive person.”
Meryl Bodek Hartstein

“Sometimes the one who is running from the Life/Death/Life nature insists on thinking of love as a boon only. Yet love in its fullest form is a series of deaths and rebirths. We let go of one phase, one aspect of love, and enter another. Passion dies and is brought back. Pain is chased away and surfaces another time. To love means to embrace and at the same time to withstand many endings, and many many beginnings- all in the same relationship.”
Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves

“If you have yet to be called an incorrigable, defiant woman,
don't worry, there is still time”
Clarissa Pinkola Estés
