NOT NICHE AND WHY

I have never made any apology for writing my Glasgow based crime fiction novels the way I do because I am following the best advice any writer can ever get. "Write what you know" I choose to write in the language of the Glasgow streets for two very good reasons. Number one is authenticity. You must have realism in your crime fiction writing. In other words the reader must be able to identify with the manner in which any of my various and very different characters express themselves. So yes my immediate target audience would be Glasgow people. Specifically Glasgow people of a certain age to identify with Glasgow in the late 1960`s early 1970`s You`re limiting your audience many people have told me. Rubbish. Firstly many many people identify with Glasgow dialogue for many reasons. The whole of Scotland for a start. The many visitors to the city who visit the city and love the warmth and generosity of the welcome they receive from Glaswegians. Then there is the huge diaspara of Scottish- particularly Glaswegian people the world over. Who doesn`t know someone from Glasgow or Scotland in general? Who doesn`t have Scottish grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, doctors , lawyers just about every profession the world over who might very well enjoy hearing the old mother tongue again.
Then I have the other perhaps more important reason. Glasgow street dialogue is a little language all on it`s own which must be preserved for posterity
Warm, generous, mockingly , side splittingly funny and on many occasions suitably profane. Only Glaswegians know how to insult you in a manner which will cause no offense whatsoever.
Check me out. Just Google my name Liam Leddy. DISDAIN

Use your Facebook pages to promote your books? For many years now I have been doing just that, Some glitch or other 3 months ago whilst actually on Facebook caused Facebook to ask me to verify something or other. Fair do`s. Lots of very odd people about as Facebook well know. They let them say almost anything really dangerous and are constantly being reprimanded for doing so. Anyhow suddenly I`m asked for my passport, driving licence and all sorts of other things that are none of their business in the first place. Meanwhile they keep E-mailing me about new friend requests they won`t allow me to see-obviously I cannot contact my current ones either. Here`s my problem I don`t have a current passport. Don`t go anywhere now do ? I gave up my driving licence because of an eye problem. Therefore according to Facebook I don`t really exist do I?
Ever tried contacting Facebook. You can`t phone them or E-mail them but they can contact you constantly about all this new interest in your life and work and date of birth, hair colour, shoe size, grocery list, colour of pyjamas or anything else they want to know Forget it Facebook. I do have a life and I refuse to spend any more time trying to contact you,

NEWLY PROMOTED

"Promote Your Book" one of my Facebook groups just named me author of the week. I don`t think I`ve been anything of the week at any time in my life so far.
Any past suggestions would be far too rude to put in writing!

CHRISTMUST READS

At this time of year writers are all trying very hard to sell books and I am no different so all I am going to do here is thank all my Amazon- especially Kindle- readers for their wonderful support over past Christmases and wish them all the very best for this one!
My Lassiter Glasgow crime fiction series of novels and all my short story collections make wonderful and inexpensive presents for those who are still wondering what to get for Uncle Wullie, Auntie Isa, or anyone else this Christmas!
