Showers are the key to unlocking the squirrely plot points of my novels. I have had my best ideas in the shower and right before falling asleep. Showers are a better place to get ideas because I can get out and write them down. Before sleep is precarious because I don't always have the energy to write it down. I always think, "I'll remember this amazing idea in the morning!" and then never do. Lol. Now I pick up my phone and put those ideas in Evernote. It's safer.(less)

If you love outlines, go for it. If outlines don't work for you, write by the seats of your pants. Don't let anyone tell you that you HAVE to write a certain way. That's crazy. I spent years not writing because I thought I HAD to write outlines and I hated them. What a waste!(less)

“This was what I loved about books. Even when my life was low, I was happy to lose myself in fiction and forget about it for a short while.”
S.J. Pajonas, The Daydreamer Detective Braves The Winter

“She could look past the dirtiest, most unkempt person and find the beauty inside of them without so much as blinking. A true gift.”
S.J. Pajonas, The Daydreamer Detective

“I was a stone-hard kind of drunk. I didn’t get mushy, lovie, or sloppy. I merely became a rock — silent and immobile. Unless I was alone with someone I liked and then the truth poured out of my mouth like a waterfall in the spring after the snow had melted.”
S.J. Pajonas, The Daydreamer Detective

Topics Mentioning This Author

“I almost turned around right there. Stupid, yeah, but PTSADS doesn’t care how stupid a trigger is. If you need me to spell that out, it’s Post-Traumatic Stuffed Animal Death Syndrome. I thought it was pretty funny. Mom and the psychologist did not. The psychologist said I had substituted George for Dad and I actually had post-dad syndrome. I told her George was a fucking bunny.”
Leah Raeder, Unteachable
