I am a retired anthropologist who has lived and studied in Mexico and the Micronesian island of Ponape. I ahve always loved mystery novels, so in retirement I decided to write mysteries and as my first novel, I have used the Mayan world as my focus. I hope you enjoy Human Sacrfice.

I can't specify a mystery in my life, but my books come from my experiences. In Human Sacrifice, my research with the Maya in Yucatan, Mexico and my experience at academic conferences came together to think what would happen if there was a murder at an anthropology conference in Mexico. In Culture Shock, I have visited several retirement communities in Florida and witnessed their quiet, affluent lifestyle, and thought about what would happen if their peaceful lifestyle were upturned by violence. In my next book, Rites of Passage, I am imagining an older woman with a long-time desire who disappears into the Yucatan peninsula. (less)
