Gratitude vs Entitlement
There is no doubt about it, this is a really tough world that we live in. The past couple of years has been unfairly difficult on many people if not the majority of people in this world. There has been the pandemic, unemployment and very unusual weather phenomenon around the world. There has also been an unusual amount of hatred and “misunderstanding” circling the globe (or refusal to understand). The lack of patience, agreeing to disagree and flat out kindness is disheartening. We have seen an unusual increase in lack of respect for each other that just seems to be growing and growing. The job market suffered a tremendous setback and is slowly starting to make a come back. However acquiring employees is a difficult task – the stimulus that was given out over the past year being partially to blame. Setting aside the past statement, acquiring employees that care or that want to be there is perhaps one of the most difficult tasks employers face despite the salaries being paid. It seems that many employees simply don’t want to be there. The lack of compassion, kindness and respect has disappeared in the client service industry and it is extremely difficult to find any more. There seems to be an entitlement that has surfaced with many employees and this has caused extreme concern with many business owners. Some business owners actually have no choice but to keep these people employed until they can find other suitable applicants. The days of servicing the client and providing service excellence seem to be diminishing. I learned to care about my clients and my job and the way I performed my job. The caring part was easy. It was because I genuinely cared about making people feel good. I learned about perception and the way I was perceived while I was performing my job not only by my clients but by my Supervisors. It is this way that led to promotions. This also provided growth And allowed for me to grow and mature both internally and professionally now and in the future. Although many jobs are entry-level jobs, it must be realized that you are paving a path for your future And then if you are to become a leader , Then you must act like a leader.

If only we could dream
When we go to sleep at night, we sometimes dream of greener pastures and red roses. We dream of flying high and riches beyond our wildest dreams. We lay peacefully as we dream and imaging ourselves successful and happy in a life that we always wanted. And we dream of the wonders of what could be in life.
When we awaken, we are filled with our busy schedule. We are filled with being occupied with each other. We have suddenly forgotten our dreams. We have suddenly abandoned our plans. We have lost our character. We have lost our integrity. We have forgotten our goals. We have lost our love.
This is what’s happening with many people across the globe. Is it too late to find a solution? Have we forgotten our goals and dreams. That it takes effort and planning? That it takes passion, determination and desire? That integrity, character, respect, kindness, caring and love are really all that maters in this world. That success evolves from these? It’s up to all my readers to become teachers of kindness and peace. It’s time to stop the madness. 3 Things to consider today.
There’s definitely a lot going on these days. Life certainly has become increasingly difficult. If we are ever going to set, plan and accomplish our dreams and goals, we must consider several things. Before we can even do that, let’s ponder this. If the world that we currently live in seems to be full of “adults” that constantly disagree and argue, how can we expect our children to get along? How can we expect them to comprehend whats going on? Do we really think they can rationalize this on their own? Also, aside from the issue of people not getting along, throw in the coronavirus. This is hard enough for adults to figure out. We need to be in constant communication with our children to educate them-not on our opinions necessarily -but on kindness, compassion, respect and character.
Three things to consider today that will help you be safe, healthy and possibly provide a good future.
1-common sense, 2-security, 3-knowledge
Common sense is something that basically everyone has. You just don’t know it sometimes.(as funny as that sounds). You learn much of it as a child, we teach it to our children and you learn a lot of it along the way. It’s basic instinct. Don’t touch a hot stove, wash your hands. Wait for the car to pass before crossing. Use it, trust me, it works when used. 2-Security has become a hot topic, especially lately. Protect yourself, protect your home and protect your identity. Doing this has always been a challenge because thieves have always found a way to penetrate our lives. But now, during critical times, scammers are on the rise. This is why it’s important to increase your awareness. Never give out personal information, place spam call blockers with your cable company, and increase your home protection if possible. 3- Knowledge- You’ve all heard the phrase, “Knowledge is power”. The more you know, the better. Don’t just limit yourself to one or two subjects. Always be educated on multiple topics and then make an educated decision. This is no different than in the business and sales world. Know and educate yourself and everything you possibly can (inside and out)before making a recommendation to your client. (or in this case, a comment on the topic). It will not only make sense, it will make you look more intelligent.https://www.amazon.com/Anything-Possible-Thought-Provoking-Quotes-Inspire/dp/1491704713

Facing a challenge
There is no denying that we are facing challenges. They are everywhere. Perhaps some may call them obstacles. Preventing us from our normal course of living or our daily routine. But while some of these “things” may indeed be challenges, some have just become the norm to many others while they go about their normal course of business.
Everyone faces adversity and obstacles at some point in their life. Some certainly face different levels than others. It can be extremely difficult to overcome. It can be challenging and even seem impossible at times. But it is indeed possible and even fun or rewarding at times. We have all overcome some level of obstacle at one time or another and may or may not even realize it now because it was relatively simple(although it didn’t seem so at the time).
Think back to a time when you were younger and something angered you or bothered you. Did is also sadden you? What did you do about it? How did you recover from it? How are you doing today? Are you the same person today character wise? If someone angers you today, do you stay angry or do you let it go? Do you let it dictate your day or week? Does it affect your life or job?
Challenges or obstacles aren’t much different. How you view anything that occurs in your life and how you react to it can determine the outcome. At the very least, it can determine your mindset and attitude giving you a completely different approach. This will determine feeling and positivity.
Facing a challenge is rarely about the challenge. It’s not about the obstacle. We all face something we don’t want to deal with in our life. We’ve all had a loved on pass away unfortunately. Or known someone with a medical condition. I, myself have had a brain tumor. But that doesn’t mean we don’t know fear or sadness. Of course we do. But being fearful and sad doesn’t mean that shouldn’t believe or be confident that we can move forward. That we can maintain positivity and confidence in ourselves. That we have the ability to reach our goals and dreams despite obstacles in our life. Because no matter what happens, its up to us to move forward.
Today is no different. These things happening today should not discourage anyone from being themselves. These are challenging times. But they should never discourage you from reaching your dreams or goals. They should never stop you from being kind. The challenge is to challenge yourself to reach your dreams!

What about me.
You might think that this blog is about – me. Or that it’s about you. But in actuality, it’s about them. So let’s begin with simple, plain old customer service. That’s right, hospitality at it’s finest. The fine art of respect and treating people with class has gone straight out the window. This is becoming true even in the service industry and larger companies such as banks, hotels and restaurants where they have excelled and prided themselves for such standards for years. The quality of service has suffered dramattically and it’s very noticeable.
Some of this may be attributed to the heavy and excessive demand to reach sales goals whereas the quality of service has suffered. Some of it can be attributed to the corporate standards have leaned toward more of a sales culture. And some of it can be blamed on simply a lack of caring from the employee viewpoint. And management or leadership (or lack of) is not always actively involved at the level that they need to be.
What upper management, corporate and leadership fail to realize is that although sales drive revenue and revenue drives jobs, client satisfaction drive the bus that drives the company. Without satisfied customers, there are less sales or no sales. There are fewer cross sale opportunities, referrals and most importantly much less of a chance of retaining the client meaning lost dollars costing your company even more money to acquire a new client.
So the “me” is we. “US” – the client- where has client service disappeared to? It hasn’t completely vanished. I know it still exists in some places. but the majority of areas have seemed to replace it with incentives and bonuses for hitting “numbers” etc. The ones that still cherish client service excellence and have managed to incorporate that with their mission statement remain among the best in the nation.
If we can manage to merge client service into our daily life to treat “our clients” with respect each and every day. The return on our investment would pay off and increase the value of each of our relationships. Both personal and business. Treating each other like clients and respecting each others values and wishes may may enhance our outlook on how to better proceed going forward when handling our affairs. We don’t always necessarily always have to agree on topics but we should be open to understanding each others opinions. We are after all. each others clients. What about me? Lorenzo
