Anthony Whitt lives in Austin, Texas with his wife Cathy where they raised two children. He is a native Austinite that has spent a lifetime studying the rich historical heritage of the American West. He has traveled extensively in the Rocky Mountains with frequent visits to sites of historic interest and tragic conflict. Closer to Austin, he spends much of his time searching out and exploring sites from this fascinating era that defines who we are today.

An avid reader, he has always been a student learning from history and the interplay of dynamic personalities that shaped our diverse heritage. His writing style seeks to portray the inherent drama of difficult times with an authentic storytelling depiction. Characters speak with a voice me

He was a well known Texas Ranger and sergeant in the Civil War. The tale always fascinated me and I set out to write a fictionalized short story about the event unaware of where the decision would lead. After receiving early praise, the short story transformed into a full length novel that needed room to grow. As a result, the decision to write a short story became a life changing moment that gave birth to the Hard Land to Rule Trilogy. (less)

Greene was the first book I read about the treatment of children captured by Indians. The book centers on Herman Lehmann captured in the Hill Country of Texas. It was a sobering tale of the harshness of the Native American lifestyle while also a eye opening look at the intoxicating sense of adventure and freedom that seduced a lot of the captured children. Many never wanted to return to the drudgery and work load of their former existence. (less)

Echoes Of The Past

Echoes Of The Past by Anthony Whitt

“But he didn’t know what to do about it. Some men played golf. Some gambled. He liked to have women he had never had.”

In its own right, Echoes Of The Past is a thrilling standalone tale of murder, suspense and romance. But for fans of the Hard Land To Rule Trilogy, it’s a modern-day conclusion to the fate of the Hill Country ranch Luke’s ancestors fought and died for. Read more of this blog post »

Patrick Clark I have published a new Kindle novel, the second in the Estranged Spy series, titled A Curtain on the Sea. Although a spy novel packed with action, it paints a picture of intelligence activities in Iran during the early years of Shah Muhammad Reza Pahlavi's ill-fated regime and the opening days of the Cold War. Check it out.

It's 1949 and the Cold War is intensifying. America is expanding its influence in Iran and the Middle East and CIA officer Tom O'Brien is sent to a remote posting on the Caspian Sea in northern Iran. The idea was to keep him under the radar while the fallout from his last assignment settled. But as usual, O'Brien finds he has been thrown into deep water - literally. Tasked with penetrating the Iron Curtain by boat to insert MI6 agents into the Soviet Union, O’Brien and his crewmates are betrayed and ambushed. Having to swim to shore with the only other survivor, O’Brien finds himself a wanted man in a hostile land. To survive he has to fight sea and sun, all the while trying to come to grips with the marital trauma he is going through. Finally making it over the border into Iran, he discovers he is a suspect in the leak that almost cost him his life. To clear his name, O'Brien has to plug the leak.
