If it comes to writing, I probably lean more towards Sci-Fi, because I'm a nerd. I enjoy researching things, like the chemical structure of DNA and dominant and recessive genes.(less)

Sometimes I go for a walk to clear my head or get a change of scenery; listening to music can help put me in the 'mood' of my current project; sometimes I power through it and write a place-holder, which is absolute crap, just to get to the more interesting part; and sometimes I simply have to walk away for a bit.

My best/least-favourite method is to think about the problem as I'm going to sleep, because I know that the answer will come to me and I'll have to wake up to write it down. The more tired I am the better this works.(less)

Douglas Adams
“Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Meik Wiking
“A city is successful not when it’s rich but when its people are happy. Creating bikeability and walkability shows respect for human dignity. We’re telling people, ‘You are important—not because you’re rich, but because you are human.’ If people are treated as special, as sacred, even, they behave that way. We need to walk just as birds need to fly. Creating public spaces is one way to lead us to a society that is not only more equal but also much happier.”
Meik Wiking, The Little Book of Lykke: Secrets of the World’s Happiest People
