Quotes by Michelle Dunne (?)

“Two weeks later he injected me and I’ve spent every night between that one and this in the goddamn gutter. There was nothing I wouldn’t do for heroin. It was the love of my fucking life, and no matter how much I got, it was never enough. But I never got anywhere near that first high again. I became a degenerate, while my friends went on to live perfect lives.’ He paused and then, ‘Why did it have to grab me and not them? That’s what I can’t figure out.’ Jerry had heard versions of this story from many victims of heroin, where experimentation leads to addiction and where a person’s body and their dignity become inconsequential.”
