Each one has some supernatural abilities that reflect on their characters and personalities.

But isn't that the way it is for all of us? We have talents and weaknesses. But when we find the right partner, we complement each other.

Such is the case with the Golem and the Jinni - their relationship grows over the course of the book towards its resolution, and even though they are not together in a dating sense, they are very much a couple.(less)

Harold S Kushner, Overcoming Life's Disappointments

“Is there an answer to the question of why bad things happen to good people?...The response would be…to forgive the world for not being perfect, to forgive God for not making a better world, to reach out to the people around us, and to go on living despite it all…no longer asking why something happened, but asking how we will respond, what we intend to do now that it has happened.”
Harold Kushner
