Writing isn't just putting words to paper, it's also the process of thinking, jotting down ideas, pondering story lines and scenes, sometimes needing to edit them in your mind prior to writing down. Although some writers think they need to write a certain number of words every day, I don't follow that line of thinking. Between The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain spent 8 years, presumably thinking, jotting down ideas and pondering story lines and scenes. What's the hurry?(less)
