Marie Michaels is a lawyer by day and a nerd pretty much all the time. She lives in Portland, Oregon, where she is rediscovering trees after a sojourn in New York City. She writes short stories and novels about strange, surprising, terrifying, and occasionally wonderful happenings. Her publications are "Claws," in the anthology "Tell Me a Fable," "New York's All Right (If You Like Saxophones)" in the anthology "Rejected," and "Corruption Harmonic," in the sci-fi/fantasy 'zine "Fiction Vortex." She tweets about sci-fi, fantasy, and feminism at @lavidanerdy. She is currently brainstorming her lucky thirteenth NaNoWriMo novel.

The Music Box - Coming Soon!

Another day, another anthology acceptance! In the next month or so, "Beneath the Waves: Tales from the Deep" will emerge with my short story, "Music Box." This one is vaguely Lovecraftian, vaguely steampunk, and heavily influenced by my flirtation with scuba diving. This one has undergone major revisions, so I'm thrilled that it will be out there soon!
