Congrats on being a teacher! Such an important role today. As to your question, it is complicated. I love writing historical fiction AND Fantasy AND SciFi. So, the short answer is I am currently blending all of these above. My last novel is SciFi (IMAGO). The novel to be published in 2021 (Blood Clan) is a blending of History/Fantasy. A writer writes what is in the well... Right now when I lower the bucket... fantasy is what comes up. Great to hear from you. Keep teaching and reading. Best wishes(less)

Forty-five Thousand prisoners trapped within the open walled field. Surrounded by a sinister line called "the dead line," the prisoners were shot if they crossed it. Here they were left to starve to death, murder each other, try to survive. And then I read a baby was born within these walls. How did a woman get in there? What happened? I called her Madeline, and Blood Clan was born!

It was not long after that, that my twisty brain began to ask "what if those 13 thousand dead did not die of starvation? What if there was something in there with them? And what happened to that "experiment gone wrong" when Sherman liberated the camp in 1864? Boom!

Stunning in its brevity. Haunting in tone and style. Closer to a meditative experience, and so stunning in its effect that I found myself ruminating on the images invoked (like great poetry) long after. Fosse is a master class in craft. Bravo!
