Part of that is due to the relationship between Jane and Edward. I love the intricacies and complexities of their story, which reflect the complicated nature of real-life, real-world romances. Jane and Edward fall in love when it's inconvenient and not acceptable to society, but the reason they can't be together isn't ultimately society's disapproval or an issue of legality. It's Jane's moral compass - not Edward's secret wife or the house staff's disapproval - and her need to be independent and do what she believes in her gut is right that tears them apart. And that's what makes their happy ending both so believable and enjoyable. Just when Jane and the readers believe the couple really will end as so many real-life romances do - with a bitter but inevitable heartbreak, based not on external factors but on unchangeable qualities that make them who they are - the two are brought together, still the same people deep down but having lived through experiences that changed their circumstances. Jane has gained agency and confidence, while Edward has lost his wife and had his pride and perceived invincibility challenged. The two are now truly equals, and can therefore be truly happy together.(less)

Nearly March already. Where does the time go?

In 2026, I am jumping into a full-time author career with both feet. I have big things planned for this first year in that new role: paperback releases, in-store sales, in-person events, and more. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes, and I am so excited to share it with you.

Here’s a little peek:
