Bron James's Blog - Posts Tagged "writing"

Hello Goodreads!

I recently received an email from Goodreads welcoming me to the authors' program (thank you, Goodreads!), so I thought I should go about making my profile just that little bit more official. Part of that is writing this blog post to say hello, so... Hello!

I'm currently sat in a cafe just off of Piccadilly Circus, planning out my ideas for the fourth installment of the Sam Hain - Occult Detective series of novellas, The Regents. Thus far, I've scribbled down the majority of the plot synopsis and have started work on chapter one. I'm still in that honeymoon stage with the story, excited about writing it and not yet at the point I want to throw my laptop out of a window!

At my current rate, I hope to have draft one finished by the end of the month/beginning of next.

On that note, the July NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) recently started (unsurprisingly at the beginning of July), which encourages authors and writers - amateur and professional - to try to write something for the end of the month. You can choose you're own word count goal, and work on whatever you want, be it poetry, short stories, fully fledged novels... The list goes on. If you're interested in writing something, or need an excuse to start work on a project you've been thinking about for a while, NaNoWriMo is perfect for connecting with other writers, and keeping track of your progress over the course of the month. I find it helps motivate me to have a website to keep updating with my word count, rather than just telling the cat. The cat rarely seems to care.

If you're interested in joining this summer's NaNoWriMo, be it for this month or another, the website can be found here: http://campnanowrimo.org

Anyway, over the next few days I'll be starting to update my author account and add the other Sam Hain novellas to my list of books. Hopefully it'll be a fully fleshed out profile soon.

And thank you again to Goodreads for adding me to the authors' program and considering my verbose ramblings as actual literature!

The Chronicles of Atlantis - In the Beginning...

I've written part one of a new, three-part series of short stories, which blends a mixture of fantasy, science fiction and mythology. The stories tell the tale of the first people to settle on planet Earth, the rise of the first civilisation and the Great Lemurian Empire, and the circumstances which lead to the eventual destruction of Lemuria and Atlantis...

Part One of the Chronicles of Atlantis is now available to read for free on my website (with further chapters coming soon): www.bronjames.co.uk/the-chronicles-of...

Many millennia ago, in a time before recorded history began, there was once a vast empire which ruled across the expanse of the Earth. The heart of this ancient global empire was seated in the long lost land of Lemuria, then known as Mu – the Motherland. History has long forgotten much of what transpired on this mysterious land – its memory lost beneath the waves of time – of the disasters which befell the people of Lemuria, and of the events which lead to the rise and fall of Atlantis...
