The Chronicles of Atlantis - In the Beginning...

I've written part one of a new, three-part series of short stories, which blends a mixture of fantasy, science fiction and mythology. The stories tell the tale of the first people to settle on planet Earth, the rise of the first civilisation and the Great Lemurian Empire, and the circumstances which lead to the eventual destruction of Lemuria and Atlantis...

Part One of the Chronicles of Atlantis is now available to read for free on my website (with further chapters coming soon): www.bronjames.co.uk/the-chronicles-of...

Many millennia ago, in a time before recorded history began, there was once a vast empire which ruled across the expanse of the Earth. The heart of this ancient global empire was seated in the long lost land of Lemuria, then known as Mu – the Motherland. History has long forgotten much of what transpired on this mysterious land – its memory lost beneath the waves of time – of the disasters which befell the people of Lemuria, and of the events which lead to the rise and fall of Atlantis...

Hello Goodreads!

I recently received an email from Goodreads welcoming me to the authors' program (thank you, Goodreads!), so I thought I should go about making my profile just that little bit more official. Part of that is writing this blog post to say hello, so... Hello!

I'm currently sat in a cafe just off of Piccadilly Circus, planning out my ideas for the fourth installment of the Sam Hain - Occult Detective series of novellas, The Regents. Thus far, I've scribbled down the majority of the plot synopsis and have started work on chapter one. I'm still in that honeymoon stage with the story, excited about writing it and not yet at the point I want to throw my laptop out of a window!

At my current rate, I hope to have draft one finished by the end of the month/beginning of next.

On that note, the July NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) recently started (unsurprisingly at the beginning of July), which encourages authors and writers - amateur and professional - to try to write something for the end of the month. You can choose you're own word count goal, and work on whatever you want, be it poetry, short stories, fully fledged novels... The list goes on. If you're interested in writing something, or need an excuse to start work on a project you've been thinking about for a while, NaNoWriMo is perfect for connecting with other writers, and keeping track of your progress over the course of the month. I find it helps motivate me to have a website to keep updating with my word count, rather than just telling the cat. The cat rarely seems to care.

If you're interested in joining this summer's NaNoWriMo, be it for this month or another, the website can be found here: http://campnanowrimo.org

Anyway, over the next few days I'll be starting to update my author account and add the other Sam Hain novellas to my list of books. Hopefully it'll be a fully fleshed out profile soon.

And thank you again to Goodreads for adding me to the authors' program and considering my verbose ramblings as actual literature!

Neil Gaiman's American Gods being adapted for TV by Starz

I may have mentioned it before, but I bloody love Neil Gaiman! I’ve been a fan of his work for a long while, so naturally I was rather excited when it was announced that Gaiman’s multi-award winning novel American Gods is being adapted into a television series by Starz.

The series showrunners are Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Hannibal) and Michael Green (The River, Heroes), who will both be writing the pilot episode and are said to be creating a series that honours the book. In the official s...

Doctor Who - The Day of the Doctor 50th Anniversary Special Review

This review can also be found on Media Gateway.

At 5:16pm on Saturday the 23rd of November 1963, 4.4 million viewers turned on their televisions to watch a new science fiction programme about a curious old man who lived in a time travelling police box. No one would have believed the legacy that was about to be born... 50 years (and a couple of hours) later, the 799th episode of Doctor Who, The Day of the Doctor, was broadcast simultaneously across the globe, hitting screens in homes and cinema...

Sam Hain: All Hallows' Eve

I've written a short story for Halloween, Sam Hain: All Hallows' Eve .

It's the first in a series of contemporary fantasy short stories which will follow the adventures and exploits of the eponymous occult detective, Sam Hain, as he and his companion, Alice Carroll, investigate the paranormal and supernatural cases across London.

All Hallows' Eve is completely free to download from the website. I'd appreciate any comments and feedback on this pilot story, and if you enjoyed reading it, please co...

Winter London Film and Comic Con: An Interview with Garrett Wang

This interview can also be found on Media Gateway.

Garrett Wang is probably best known for his role in Star Trek Voyager as Harry Kim, having also reprised the character for the independent film Star Trek: Renegades which has just recently gone into production, as well as playing Commander Garan in the independent miniseries Star Trek: Of Gods and Men. Wang has been a science fiction fan from childhood, in particular Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica, and although he saw all the Star Trek fil...

Winter London Film & Comic Con: An Interview with Nicole de Boer

This interview can also be found on Media Gateway.

Nicole de Boer is probably best known for her roles as Ezri Dax on Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Sarah Bracknell Bannerman in The Dead Zone, and Joan Leaven in the cult film Cube. I was fortunate enough to be able to quickly interview de Boer whilst at Winter London Film and Comic Con, and it was an absolute pleasure to meet and chat with her.

Hello, Nicole de Boer! How’s it going?

Good, thank you.

How’ve you been enjoying this weekend?

It’s been gre...

Atlantis - The Earth Bull Review

This review can also be found on Media Gateway.

From the creators of Merlin comes a new fantasy drama series, Atlantis, set in a world of legendary heroes and mythical creatures. Last night, Atlantis premièred with its first episode, The Earth Bull, and despite not being immediately gripping, it does show some promise for the series.

Atlantis stars Jack Donnelly as Jason (presumably of Argonauts fame), a young man who takes a submarine down into the ocean in an attempt to find his missing fathe...
