Whilst working as a college lecturer, I wrote extensively for national children's/YA magazines such as 'Shout', 'Animals and You', 'The Mandy' and 'The Bunty'. In 2011, I published my first two books: the highly successful 'Children's History of Manchester' and 'Children's History of Lancashire'. I then began work with my brother, David, on 'The Perfect Pair Dolphin Trilogy'.

'The Perfect Pair: The Enchanted Mirror' (2012) was made a core text for the University of Salford's BA(Hons) degree in English and Creative Writing. It also won Bronze for non-fiction in The Wishing Shelf Book Awards 2013. An extract from the book won first prize in a prestigious 'Manchester Evening News' literary competition.
