While my city of birth is Liverpool, England, from the age of 5 or so, we lived in Belfast, and I, like both my Ireland-born parents, am Irish. B.A. from Trinity College, Dublin in Medieval & Renaissance English Literature, M.A. in Medieval Lit from Queen's Univ, Belfast. From 1991, resident in Japan, initially teaching English at private conversation schools. Now my position is Professor at Tsurumi University, Yokohama. Apart from English communication, I teach UK & Irish lit: 20th C, with a special focus on James Joyce. I am married, and we have two children. I have published numerous academic articles, both nationally and internationally. I also write poetry, and Snowchild Press, Ireland will publish my first collection in 2016. ...more
