New project
Aah, you know how it is, you're on 57k words in the sequel to your first novel, 12k words of the 5th book in the time-slip series, still trying to produce a stage musical, working with two other authors to get their books published, and then the local library asks you to write a special kids book for their Big Summer Reading challenge.
So what do you say?
Obviously yes. If they are going to pay to put your book into up to 200 readers hands you can hardly say no.
Not getting paid for it, but the potential for future sales of that and my other books is astronomical.

My Kickstarter project
Well ok, nobody reads this blog, but I launched my book crowdfunder on Kickstarter yesterday.
Children of the Wise Oak has 8 backers already and nearly 10% of the funding goal reached.
It's here, in case you want to check it out.

Crowdfunding
I recently saw a tweet (shared on Facebook)
It was in response to someone who was trying to crowdfund a campaign to defeat socialism.
The tweet was along the lines of
"If everyone chips in a small amount of their income we can defeat socialism!"
This is rather a clever reversal of the often touted irony of anti capitalists using the products of capitalism to fight their campaigns.
Of course capitalism is not essential for major projects to succeed (Communist Russia put the first man into space) but capital is.
And then it dawned on me that crowdfunding is socialism in action. Making great projects possible for people with hardly any money. (You obviously need a computer and some sort of base to work from)
Well, I'm crowdfunding my next book, and hoping to find ways to get people to back it.
I guess it can't hurt to include a link to my project, although I don't expect anyone will read my first blog post.
