Some people know what they want to do from an early age, and they do it.
Others take a little longer but eventually settle down to something and get on with it.
Not me; oh no. I wanted to be a vet from about the age of 8 until I was 17 when I suddenly realised that getting up at five in the morning to shove my hand up a cow's bottom was the LAST thing I wanted to do.
So I walked out in the middle of my A levels and never went back. (You could do that in the olden days, when bread was white wi' no bits in it, and we still thought bacon was good for you.)

I signed on and looked for work and did rubbish jobs for rubbish money. I even worked in a bookshop once, but was sacked after getting bored and reading a children's book in the lift.
