Alexis Lawrence, an avid reader and writer, has written three books - 'O.U.R. Café', 'Seasons: The Mysterious Woman' and 'Follow The Handyman'.

'O.U.R. Café' follows the life of Juliette, who has sought employment at a café after her dismissal from a firm due to an internal restructuring, and the quirky characters she comes across in her new line of work.

'Seasons: The Mysterious Woman' and 'Follow The Handyman' - the prequel to 'Seasons' - focus on the life of a handyman named Matthew and his interactions with some oddball clients in Gat County.

At the same time, he's struggling to realize his aspiration as a singer.

Alexis is working on the fourth novella - a murder-mystery - tentatively titled 'The Northampton Woods Murders'.

The book I am currently working on is a prequel to "Seasons" and focuses on the male protagonist's life before his encounter with his reclusive client. That said, however, the two books are independent, and you do not need to have knowledge of one book before embarking on the other.(less)

He's an average guy, struggling to achieve his aspiration as a singer and reminds me of me - a writer struggling to make good in the literary world. He is middle class and diligent, and despite his busy schedule, he is always ready to lend others a hand. Plus he is affable and tactful. I am sure we have seen a shadow of him in people around us - our friends, neighbors, colleagues and family members. Basically, he is a person whom everyone can relate to.(less)

“Maintaining a long-distance relationship requires a lot of discipline,” surmised Duncan. “The loneliness that they experience is a formidable force to be reckoned with, and not everyone can withstand it. A physical entity is always more powerful than a voice distorted by static, more so when they encounter problems and want to share them with their partner in real time. In such cases, they usually turn to a third party, and that’s when the relationships fall apart like a house of cards.”
Alexis Lawrence, O.U.R. Café

“People have a tendency of filtering their memories – exaggerate the positives and downplay their weaknesses and faults. Self-preservation will be another obstacle you will have to surmount when it comes to suppressed memories.”
Alexis Lawrence, O.U.R. Café

“You know what they say about snowfall?” he remarked thoughtfully.
She turned towards him, her eyebrows slightly raised.
“It represents a new beginning," he went on... "And since it signifies a new beginning, should we introduce ourselves again?”
Alexis Lawrence, Seasons: The Mysterious Woman

“Much of the time the mind is wandering, either drawn to focus, ruminate, or push away unpleasant experiences, or chasing after stuff we like. But if we don’t practise being still, we are prone to get blown about by every wind, buffeted by the ups and downs of life. By training to pay attention precisely and gently to the breath, coming back again and again, we cultivate a resilience that allows us to be present when difficulty and temptation arises. Distractions still come, but we don’t get so lost in them.”
Ed Halliwell

“The meaning of life is not a search—it is a choice. Meaning is not found in things; meaning is what you make of things. The world means nothing by itself. You give it all the meaning it has. Thus, the meaning of life is a choice you make, not just once, but every waking hour of your day.

Life is like art—it is all about interpretation. The moment anything happens to you, you interpret a meaning for it. The meaning you vote for then governs your perception, your thinking, your faith, your choices, your feelings, your behaviors, everything! Whenever you elect a new meaning, this changes everything.”
Robert Holden

“I realized that despite the fear and the bruises of life, one has to keep on fighting for one's dream. As Borges said in his writings "there is no other virtue than being brave." And one has to understand that braveness is not the absence of fear but rather the strength to keep on going forward despite the fear.”
Paulo Coelho

“What if pleasure and displeasure were so tied together that whoever wanted to have as much as possible of one must also have as much as possible of the other. You have a choice in life: either as little displeasure as possible, painlessness in brief or as much displeasure as possible as the price for an abundance of subtle pleasures and joys”
Nietzsche

“...there is something very vital happening when we breathe—without it we die—but trying to speed it up, force it, grasp it, push it away or control it tends to get in the way. As in breathing, so in life—we can learn a lot from the natural rhythm, pace, and un-fussiness of the way breath continues its work, without making a big deal out of it.”
