Hi Kathy,
I'm so happy to hear from you! I was born in Valdese, NC, and lived there until I was almost seven years old. I still have a lot of extended family living there. I've lived all of my adult life in middle Georgia.
After Valdese, we lived in Dahlonega, GA, for four years, and I loosely based the fictional town of Fairmount on Dahlonega. I miss the mountains!
After the Heaven's Mountain series, I wrote a historical fiction novel (1929-1945) about a young woman named Birdie, with settings of NC and West Virginia. The fictional NC location was loosely based on Valdese. You might enjoy the setting of that book. It isn't a Christian romance, though it's still very mild by most standards. You could read the reviews on Amazon, and see if it looks like something you'd like to read.
Thank you so much for getting in touch with me! It's an exciting thing for me to hear from someone who's read my books.
With blessings and good wishes -

If I can't get going on the computer, I grab a notebook and a pen and start writing something. Even if it's something crazy, unusable, sketchy, the process of moving my hand and getting some words flowing may be enough to get that block dislodged. Or I'll use the recorder on my phone and tell the story out loud. Sometimes that gets things going. But then there are times when I just have to wait.(less)

What We Had - as of July 25, 2016

In late 1940, Birdie joins her husband in the mountains of West Virginia, where he's found work in the coal mines. Life could be good there, if she could only find a way to heal the wounds from the past. A sudden tragic blow changes everything, and Birdie must look within herself to unlock the truth that's hidden there.
....Another morsel for you to savor from my novel in progress, "What We Had".
