C. R. Sturgill, a Transportation Manager by day and writer by night, lives in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. He is married, with one son who currently attends college at U.C. Berkeley.

DREAMS FROM THE HEART: TALES OF HOPE & LOVE—a collection of short stories exploring romance, love, and family—was his first book and dedicated to his mother, and biggest supporter, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 2012. He donates all the proceeds from that book to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

His latest book, FANTASY WORLD, is a young adult science fiction/fantasy novel. He has also published SEA OF HEARTS, a young adult historical romance novel, and BLOOD TIDES, a historical fiction novel. While he is genre agnostic, he seeks to write bo ...more

I suffered from writer's block for almost 20 years. The solution, however, is very simple. Very simple and very cliché. Write. Write something...anything. If it's bad, rewrite it tomorrow. If it's short, write more tomorrow. There are so many excuses not to write - family, job, yard work, housework, too tired, etc. But there is always time. There is always a way. Just write. (less)

If you don't love writing it, the readers won't love reading it. 3) Write. Don't get bogged down trying to plan out every step of the plot in your head. Sometimes you just have to start writing and let the story and characters develop along the way. (less)
