“A writer must stand on the rock of her self and her judgment or be swept away by the tide or sink in the quaking earth: there must be an inviolate place where the choices and decisions, however imperfect, are the writer’s own, where the decision must be as individual and solitary as birth or death.”

Nancy, I see that we both gave King's The Dead Zone five stars. I read that back in the early 80s when I was in junior high, reread it last year, and I think it's one of King's most mature works. Back when I read it the first time it instantly became one of my favorite stories. I think I even cried at the end, and I was in junior high! Love that book.
Nancy wrote: "Thanks for adding me! I finished Scars and will be posting a review shortly."You're welcome, and thanks for reading my book!

Nor is it of mine. I really wanted to like it more than I did. I had been looking forward to reading it for a number of years, then I did, and was let down. Oh well. He can't hit the mark every time for me.
