Ally has worked as a horse trainer, director of marketing and development, freelance proofreader, and a children's librarian, among other things. None of them were as awesome as writing romance novels (though the librarian gig came closest). She lives in Texas and is convinced her house is shrinking, possibly because she shares it with three kids, five dogs, a cat, a rabbit, and assorted reptiles. Oh, and her husband.

Ally likes to curse in Russian because very few people know what she's saying, and spends most of what would be her spare time letting dogs in and out of the house and shuttling kids around. She has many stories in her head looking for an opportunity to escape onto paper. She writes historical romance set in Regency England and

I never set out to purposefully include a message in any of my books, but sometimes the characters decide to do or say things that might make it look that way. Most of us read to escape the real world for a while, so I write stories that I hope will create that experience for readers. But in this case, Edmund knew his limitations when it came to love, and he was concerned that he could not measure up to Abigail’s expectations. Of course, Abigail felt differently. I think it’s natural for most of us to feel at least a little insecure about ourselves once in a while, so my hope is that revealing the vulnerability of the characters will help readers identify more with them.(less)

Hi Brenda,

The numbering here is a bit confusing. Just a Kiss is the first book in the series, and One Last Kiss is the second. I'm not sure where the 0.5 came from.

“You are making this fuss because I did not issue a proper proposal?
Very well." He began to kneel and she grasped a fistful of his hair
and yanked him back to a standing position.

He yelped and rubbed his head. "Even you cannot deny that your
background and family connections are less than desirable, yet I am
still willing to do the honorable thing and marry you.”
Ally Broadfield, How to Beguile a Duke

“Charlotte raised her eyebrows. “Have you spent any time with her this week?”

“I’m afraid she’s too…perfectish.”

She stopped and turned toward him. “Perfectish?”

He lowered his head and gazed into her eyes. “Yes, perfectish. It’s a clear indication that some horrible fault will come to the surface the moment you’ve irrevocably declared your intentions.”

She allowed one corner of her mouth to curve upward. “Well, then. I guess it’s a good thing I could never be considered perfectish.”

His eyes darkened as he leaned closer. “No, you are certainly not too perfectish.”

Sebastian & Charlotte”
Ally Broadfield, Just A Kiss

“Yes, magnifliant. Magnificent, brilliant, splendid, superb. I could go on.”

Ally Broadfield, Just A Kiss

“Their encounter confirmed what he had been unwilling to admit. Charlotte didn’t taste, smell, or feel like any other woman he had ever known. She wasn’t like any other woman and never would be. And he would never be satisfied with another woman now that he’d touched her.

Sebastian”
Ally Broadfield, Just A Kiss

“He turned to face her and studied her as if he could see right through her. “None of them are worthy of you.”

A wave of longing coursed through her. “Then who am I to marry?” When he failed to answer, she turned away and fiddled with the flowers on the desk. “Without the advantage of wealth or status, I’m not exactly overrun with prospects like you are.”

“Perhaps not,” he said softly, “but at least you can be certain the man who marries you did so for love and not because of your wealth or title.”

Charlotte & Sebastian”
Ally Broadfield, Just A Kiss

“Awash in sensation, it took several moments for Charlotte to come to her senses. She slowly pulled away from him and pressed her fingers to her lips. She desperately wanted to stay with him.

Forever.

But since that wasn’t possible, she needed to leave before they went too far. There were so many things she wanted to say to him, but he was so close. Her pulse raced, and she couldn’t seem to catch her breath. Words were beyond her capabilities.

Until voices sounded outside the door and a very inelegant word escaped her mouth.

Charlotte”
