From my own experience, I would would identify a subject about which you are passionate or knowledgeable. Then begin to put words on paper. Just write. Do not let others discourage you. As Stephen King says in his book, the story is like finding a buried fossil. Like the archaeologist who must work to uncover the dinosaur hidden from view, the author must work to have the story revealed. King does not believe in extensive plotting on the front end. He begins with a notion of a story. Then begins to write. The plot often surprises even him. The last recommendation from King is that a good writer must read extensively. Its not too late to start writing and it does not require extensive training in creative writing, etc. It requires passion and commitment like most things in life. Commit a a block of time each day and write. Put words on paper. I hope this helps.(less)

I am weaving in true life events with a narrative to fill in voids in the lives of the main characters. The goal is to create a story that holds the interest of diverse readers but that also helps to introduce them a historical period often overshadowed by the Civil War period. I am about 75% finished with the manuscript.(less)

Great flashback to 1964

Brings back fond memories of my childhood. Watching Jonny Quest about 6pm and eating a Swanson’s TV dinner. The best of times. A true Time Machine.
