I finished listening to this late last night, tears streaking down my cheeks, and now I'm utterly bereft.

“It scared her to think that one day in the future, she might not be able to remember every little detail of the things that had mattered the most to her. She wished there was a way to store them, emotions and all, in a jar, and then she could screw the lid on tight and peer at them through the glass.”
Isabelle Broom, A Year and a Day

“We're led to believe that all these material things will make us happy, that they signify success and contentment, when, in actual fact, the opposite is true. All that this clutter does is anchor you to one place. I think all you really need to be happy is what that little girl down on the beach has - the sun on your back, food on the table and someone to love who loves you in return. If it's so simple, though, why do we dither around for so many years looking for something else?”
Isabelle Broom, Then. Now. Always.

“Honestly,”
Isabelle Broom, One Winter Morning
