Gore Orphanage

The first story in the horror anthology Reflections of Darkness is Gore Orphanage, based on an urban legend.

Tagline: Every town has a secret. The town of Gore has a curse.

Logline: Fifty years following a heartless crime, the most malicious ghost to ever haunt America seeks retribution and will not stop until every trespasser is dead, innocent or not.

Synopsis:

On the surface, Gore appears like any other small Midwestern town, yet a tragedy rests underneath its quaint demeanor that threatens anyone who stumbles upon it. Fifty years ago, 76 orphans perished in a horrible fire at Gore Orphanage. But was it an accident?

Urban legend tells of a desperate owner who burned down the orphanage with all the children still inside in order to collect a hefty insurance payout. High school kids now visit the sight of Gore Orphanage hoping to see ghosts. Locals believe the place is haunted and tell stories of hearing the plaintive cries of children in the wind and seeing phantom fingerprints appear on car windows.

A once harmless rite of passage turns grisly when a group of teens disturb the remains of a former orphanage occupant, inciting a haunting of such frightening intensity it threatens the survival of all those involved. Caught in the middle of this conflict is a fractured family who recently relocated to Gore in search of tranquility. Their painful memories along with their hopes converge in the light of the supernatural fire engulfing the town.
