One was when the characters stopped talking to me and the other one was when the plot required a scene I didn't feel know how to write.

In the first instance, I knew that the characters had stopped talking to me, but I tried to keep on writing, thinking that it was part of my growth as an author. It soon became apparent that I need to stop writing and spend some time with my characters and let them fully express themselves to me before I could go on.

The other time I had writer's block was when I was writing a fan-fic about 10 years ago. I needed to write a legal scene but the logistics of writing something so foreign to me kept me from continuing the story. I still feel bad for those characters. (less)

When I watch TV, read books, or just drive down the street I usually find myself creating characters or scenarios and scenes in my mind. I write them down for possible future reference.

Writing gives me an avenue to utilize all of my daydreaming! (less)
