FERNANDO DA SILVA CAMPOS nasceu em Águas Santas, Maia, a 23 de Abril de 1924. Licenciou-se em Filologia Clássica na Universidade de Coimbra, vindo a trabalhar como professor do ensino secundário no Liceu Pedro Nunes. Para além de algumas obras didácticas e pequenas monografias de carácter etimológico, é autor do romance histórico A Casa do Pó (Prémio Literário Município de Lisboa, 1986), que o consagrou, inspirado na figura de Frei Pantaleão de Aveiro, na linha de uma tradição romanesca que vem do século XIX. Depois das novelas O Homem da Máquina de Escrever (1987) e Psiché (1987), publicou o ensaio etnográfico Portugal (1989) e os romances O Pesadelo de dEus (1990), de carácter fantástico, regressando à inspiração histórica com A Esmeralda ...more
