I'm either not being true to my characters, I'm forcing the story to go in a direction it doesn't want to go, or I'm not in love with what I'm writing. The best way I've found to break through is to take a long walk, and consider where I have to start over. Sometimes I have to throw away thousands of words, and others, I just dredge through the muck until I can get where I want to be.(less)
