I am a fantasy author.

Born and raised in rural Nova Scotia, Canada. I always loved fairy tales and was a voracious reader but truly became a hard core fantasy fanatic after reading Jane Yolen's Dragon's Blood. From there I discovered the worlds of Susan Cooper, Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, Anne McCaffrey, Piers Anthony, J.R.R Tolkien, and Isaac Asimov, all of whom have shaped my love of the genre. There are many other authors I also enjoy, however those listed above are the ones who influenced me the most.

When I was younger I used to have dreams so vivid, I believed I was living another life whenever I slept.

Often, I would live out an ordinary day, at school, at home, or playing with the neighbor kids. These were the most difficult dreams to handle because sometimes I confused them for memories of actual events.

Other times I would dream about being older, in a world with computer watches, tablets and electronic portable phones with screens. Crazy! My favorite person to tell my dreams to was my hair dresser. She used to think I was so imaginative coming up with such incredible devices. I used to talk about them like they were real.

Skip ahead to the present. We are now, basically, using some of the devices I used to dream of.

I ran into my childhood hair dresser years ago at community get together. We reminisced about her cutting my hair. She talked about the crazy technology I used to tell her we would be using in the future, and how she never thought any of it was possible. Now she wonders why I never tried to patent any of it, as I would probably rich by now.

So the mystery is, where did I go when I fell asleep? Was I time traveling to the future, or simply a child influenced by the sci-fi culture of the 80's?

Most of the books I enjoy spend their time on a single character and never focus on their relationships.
