SYNCING FORWARD COMES TO AUDIBLE – PODIUM 2
The audio book version of Syncing Forward can be found here! It has only been a couple weeks, but the reviews are pouring in and people love it! A sturdy handshake to Will Damron who narrated the story, taking on the voice of Martin James (and everyone else – not an easy task given the large number of female characters).
Thank you to my partners at Podium Publishing for making this a reality. You may not know them by name, but this is the same fine company that produced the audiobook for Andy Weir’s The Martian, which also made it to the big screen. Given this is my first published book, I am flattered that Podium took the chance on me.
Please spread the word and link to this page for those friends of yours who prefer to listen to their books on their long commutes. THANKS!!

To Thine Own Self publishes November 2017
Syncing In series
November 2017, I published the second novel in the series Syncing In. When I came up with the concept, I actually shuddered at the ruthlessness of it, wavered at its publication, and even asked my wife if she thought it a mistake to put it out there. She gave it a green light, and so off it went to the editor. When it came back, the ending had a notation that read “Nicely brutal.”
Like Uncanny Sally, this story can be read independently from both Syncing Forward and Uncanny Sally as well. The goal was to create stories that can be picked up by anyone and enjoyed without any other context, yet a whole new level of fulfillment exists for the reader who takes them all on.
Unlike Uncanny Sally, the story shows a heavy-handed side to Amara James that was only eluded to in Syncing Forward. If you enjoy the story, feel free to drop me a note – I would love to hear from you.

A new novelette – Uncanny Sally
For the better part of two years, I worked on a novel called One Way Window. But after running it past the editor, it became apparent that the book needed extra work. However, as the three year anniversary of Syncing Forward’s original publication approached, I found it more difficult to wait to put something –anything– out there to stay relevant. So I switched gears, shelved One Way Window temporarily, and cranked out a novelette that I had floating around in my head for a long time.
Uncanny Sally is the first novelette in a series called Syncing In: the Case Files of Amara James. It follows the daughter of Martin James and her attempts to save her father through her work at the Department of Homeland Defense. The story is an homage to Isaac Asimov and his books on robotics, and also gives readers a stronger look at the tortured life of Amara. But it also allows me to bring up technologies that are within our grasp, and explore ethical choices that we are going to be forced to make. Robotics, nanotechnology, genetic alterations… These will most likely happen in your lifetime and undoubtedly in your children’s lifetime. They aren’t a matter of “if” but “when.”
There are several stories already planned, and a sequel in the works to Syncing Forward. But in the meantime, please pick up a copy and let me know what you think.

My second book gets a new cover…
Pretty awesome, heh?
Just messing around…
The good news is I have contracted with Lasse Perälä once again to design the cover art for my new book, One Way Window. A man restoring an old house in Waynesville, North Carolina discovers a window which looks back in time ninety years. Ghost stories, moonshiners, and time travelers abound in this twisty tale.
Coming soon!!

Apocalypse Bacon – the end of the world can’t be that bad
For my paranoid brothers and sisters who desire to bug-in during the apoc
alyptic nightmare of their choice, your irradiated bodies / plagued bloodstreams / nano-infected brains do not have to be completely miserable.
Yes, that is bacon in a can. It lasts a really long time and is great for complimenting powdered eggs, spicing up your possum sandwich, or wrapping your squirrel shish kabobs for that dîner magnifique!
For those who are dubious, I can tell you I have eaten this particular brand of canned bacon, and it wasn’t bad at all! It tastes like inexpensive bacon, sliced very thin, and comes with a reasonable amount of bacon fat that you can scrape from the wax wrapping with a bone knife. I can also speak from experience to the reliability and product quality of the shipper Emergency Essentials (although I am sure canned bacon can be had from any number of sources).
Anybody else have examples of survival food that falls into the unusual category? Extra points if you have actually purchased and eaten said item.
