I am the author of two novels, To Whom Much Is Given and All Things Work Together, and one novella, Like A Brother. I am also a contributor to five anthologies: Blessed Assurance, The Soul Of A Man (winner of Best Anthology at the 2009 African American Literary Awards), Home Again: Stories Of Restored Relationships, Soldiers Of The Cross and The Soul Of A Man 2: Make Me Wanna Holler. I love to write, but I loved to read first :-).

I also edit for other authors. As an avid reader/published author/grammar nazi, I bring a unique perspective to every project I edit.

I was less than a year removed from publishing my first novel To Whom Much Is Given, and this was my first major literary event (I'd done a few signings, but nothing on a national scale). I met a lot of authors during that weekend with whom I still keep touch, but my "I've arrived" moment came when I arrived for the first group signing and found myself placed next to Pat G'orge-Walker. I'd met her when I arrived the night before, but to see an experienced author writing in my genre (Christian fiction) in that setting, and to have people who came from her table to mine treat me with the same sense of respect and awe gave me confidence that I belonged in the literary arena.(less)

A novel to Cherish

Kim Cash Tate has written a powerful book on something all Christians should have a better understanding of- forgiveness and redemption.

Kelli let a bad decision and its consequences steal her joy to the point where she turned her back on the songwriting gift God gave her for seven years. Heather is broken by a series of bad decisions- she followed an affair with a married man with a one-night stan Read more of this blog post »

“Medina is shorter and not as physically gifted as Susan, but she has this intangible something that drives men crazy. Her tangible isn’t bad either- she’s five feet five inches of brown skin and killer curves, and those brown eyes of hers could charm cash from a miser.
Help me, Jesus.

Nate Carter in Long Term, from The Soul Of A Man”

“Code Blue! We’re losing him!”
The EMTs hustled the gurney containing Erik Dawson’s broken body into the operating room where the surgical team waited. The nursing staff literally ripped his clothes off as they worked to stabilize him.
“What do we have here?” the lead surgeon asked.
His assistant didn’t bother to look up as she answered, “Auto accident. An eighteen- wheeler smashed his car into a guardrail.”
The lead surgeon whistled through his teeth. “It’s a miracle he’s still breathing. Let’s keep him that way.”
As the surgical team moved into action with skill born of practice, Erik drifted on the fringes of consciousness.
Erik’s thoughts raced. What? Where?
Anesthesia put him under, but as the doctors began their work and his parents prayed fervently in the waiting room, Erik spasmed and stopped breathing.

Family Matters, from Home Again”

“Fragments of memory flashed through his head. Matt saw fists descending on him mercilessly from all sides, but he couldn't remember who those fists belonged to. He did know that he had been moved recently; instead of bleeding on a cold, hard pavement, he had awakened in a hospital bed, looking up at a woman.”

“Merry couldn't figure out the best way to kill her father

To Whom Much Is Given”

“One thought reverberated through Max's mind as he stared down the barrel of the first .357 Magnum he'd ever seen in real life. That thing is HUGE!

To Whom Much Is Given”

“I hate him like a fat man hates salad! If I had to choose between hanging with him and a hard kick in the groin, I'd consider the kick.

All Things Work Together”
