I write steamy (and sometimes erotic) romance, with a bit of excitement and adventure combined. My characters don’t have an easy ride in my books – I certainly put them through their paces – but there is also passion and sensuality to make your heart soar, I hope.

I live in the heart of England and, before Covid, I used to travel to some wonderful, exotic places. Sadly, now, I am reduced to looking at my travel photo albums. I love the beautiful British landscape, good music, beautiful sunsets, and my wonderful friends and family. Above all, I value kindness and love. Everything else is a bonus.

I think that after writing an historical romance, The Gardener, another writer who I greatly admire, Emily Tilton, might have mentioned that she thought Barnes, the gardener in question, was sexy. (If she didn't say that, someone else did. I have a terrible memory.) So, after a couple of contemporary stories, I decided to write another historical one. I don't think I consciously thought of D H Lawrence's book, Lady Chatterley's Lover, (he is another favourite author), when I wrote the book, but it has hints of that in it.(less)

From my own books I suppose it would be Adriana and Luca from That Day at the Lake. Their love burned slowly from childhood and they had to overcome so much to be together.(less)

That Day at the Lake, an erotic tale

Adriana is just a child of eight when she first meets Luca in Naples, Italy. His father rescues Adriana from her brutal step-father, and she goes to live with his family.
***
I can hear him coming up the stairs, his boots making a loud noise on the bare wooden surface, and I tremble with fear.  I wish I could wake Mamma up.  She has been sleeping for such a long time.  I must find a place to hide.  Read more of this blog post »

“I think that being on my knees between your legs is the right place for me, Sir.
And what might you do for me, Rosie, while you are down there?”
Rachel de Vine, Songbird

“They are not looking because of the way you are dressed, Danny. The women are looking at you with envy. They are wondering how a woman of my age can attract a handsome, virile young man like you, and they are jealous. The men are looking at you with curiosity. They are wondering what you have to be able to attract a beautiful older woman like me. Enjoy the attention, Danny. You will only be young for a very short time.”
Rachel de Vine, A Love More Precious than Diamonds

“The room was almost dark, with just flickers of light coming from the logs burning in the hearth. I could just see his shape, sitting in the leather, wing-backed chair, silhouetted by the fire.
“Come here.”
His voice was quiet, but with the firmness I had come to expect from him. I moved closer and knelt down in front of him, my naked bottom facing the warmth of the fire. I bent my head downwards and looked at the floor as I had been taught, but he surprised me by lifting up my chin with his hand.
“You look so beautiful.”
He bent and kissed me softly on the lips, and I shivered in anticipation. Was it to be pleasure or pain this time? Or perhaps a combination of both, given in the way that only he can.”
Rachel de Vine, Out of Darkness

“In our own way, in your own way, we are all of us a masterpiece. Everyone is unique.”
Chloe Thurlow, Katie in Love

“Reading is sexy. Women who read are suspect. Women who write dangerous.”
Chloe Thurlow, Katie in Love

“Sex with a stranger makes you feel decadent, a risk taker, young again. Sex with a stranger is life on the edge. Everything else is life wrapped in cotton wool.”
Chloe Thurlow, Katie in Love

“All girls have sex with a stranger fantasies and fantasies played out are healthier than those that have been left to fester and go mouldy. When we look back, we don’t regret the things we have done, only the things left undone, the things we wanted to do and never did.”
Chloe Thurlow, Katie in Love

“I think that being on my knees between your legs is the right place for me, Sir.
