David Scott was born in the United States, and raised in the world. He currently resides in Singapore, but remains deeply connected to the passion that is Paris, the power shift that finds its new home in Asia, and the movement to co-create and cooperate that had its genesis for him in America; its inspiration both within and throughout.

David has spent his career in the field of education, his life in the field of service. He is perhaps best known for his contributions as an accomplished entrepreneur, investor and leader in education, establishing and stewarding innovative school systems of size and scope in North America, the Middle East and Pacific Asia. He has played both visionary leader and humble student, with each measure of the worl

If it’s not there--the flow, the inspiration, the words--then get up and go do something else. And just allow yourself whatever time it takes for that inspiration to come pouring through. Sometimes I write in the mornings, sometimes in the evenings during that quiet period when the rest of the world around me is at rest. Sometimes I require earplugs; sometimes it’s merely a matter of unplugging in the many ways that we have to unplug, and thus ‘plug in’. And I believe this applies to any form of writing because even a great mystery novel or love story or even if one were writing something nonfictional, there is still more in there than there is purely in the mind. One just needs to find the pathway to greater possibility and then find the time to walk it. What they will discover, on the other side, is just that… another side of themselves that waits patiently for an invitation to enter through the written channels. This way, we use our writing blocks as stepping stones.(less)

My answer would be a sense of freedom that I experience when I write, and the connectedness that occurs with that deeper part of me through the unveiling of the next word, the next sentence; the next chapter. It’s a liberation from a quite pragmatic, somewhat limiting world—which has in it’s own right been a blessing for me in many ways—and an ascension into a world that is also available with each new breath. Again, if one can muster the courage to do so.(less)

“As love leads the way, the steps will be made easy.”
David Scott, The Longest Distance

“There is an old saying in the Hindi proverbs that goes something like this: ‘If one is good, then the whole world is good.’ ‘I believe it speaks to our choice in how we choose to live and what is returned to us in kind.’ He chuckled. ‘Maybe, when the whole world is good, that is when God gets to sleep.”
David Scott, The Longest Distance

“The mind is restless, turbulent, powerful, violent… trying to control it is like trying to control the wind.”
David Scott, The Longest Distance
