Lee has done many things over the years, including daring the horrors of IT for over 26 years. Having grown weary of that, she went back to school to study accounting. While such a job may not be the stuff of legends, it is a skill needed pretty much everywhere which makes it possible for her to keep a roof over her head regardless of where she chooses to live.

Of course, there is more to Lee than that. She's loved writing since grade school. She finished her first novel length story in high school, though she cringes now to read it. She's also worked with digital art since 2004. She's done several book covers for other authors as well as her own books. She also games both on the computer and tabletop. I try to know exactly where I'm going with my story before I lay down the first words. I do come across problems which require solving during the course of the story, but mostly I can remove these obstacles with a good night's sleep or a long hot shower. (less)

50,000 Words in One Month – Zoinks!

Every year, fools like me, put themselves through thirty days of craziness for the chance to write 50,000 words in that short amount of time. I've been participating since 2007, I think. In that time, I have managed to hit the magic number only twice. Even so, I make amazing inroads into whatever I'm working on. I might manage a measly 30,000 words but it's still an accomplishment.

I loved this book for about half of the read. Then it began to feel like the same scenes were being rewritten over and over again. If it had been about 75-100 pages shorter, I'd have given it 4+ stars. As it was, even some of the lines were nearly id ...more

“Negotiation only works if you’re dealing with someone who has values similar to your own. They must already possess the capacity to respect you.”
Lee Dunning, Exile's Redemption

“I wanted to teach myself some life lessons at the age of 60 and one of them was that you don’t give up.”
Diana Nyad

“People are afraid to pursue their most important dreams, because they feel that they don’t deserve them, or that they’ll be unable to achieve them. We, their hearts, become fearful just thinking of loved ones who go away forever, or of moments that could have been good but weren’t, or of treasures that might have been found but were forever hidden in the sands. Because, when these things happen, we suffer terribly.”
Paulo Coelho

“If we had no faults we should not take so much pleasure in noting those of others.”
François de La Rochefoucauld, Maxims

“I am very tired of this Government, which I have never seen, and which is always insisting that I must do disagreeable things, and does no good to anybody.”
Naomi Novik, Throne of Jade

“Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”
