Born and raised in New England, J.J. Dice’s vivid imagination was strongly impacted by Stephen King novels, above all the Dark Tower Series, and Robert Frost poetry. He attended Southern New Hampshire University and enjoys supernatural and sci-fi books, movies and video games.
With a lifelong interest in all mythological things, 38 Studios’ Kingdoms of Amalur motivated him to create a magical universe filled with hero tales of legend.
Bursting with magic, wonder and mystery, the Legend of Hollow Wood and Legend of Farion book series intertwines the fate of two realms. A frightful warlock has unleashed boundless power, ripping through dimensions to dominate over all. Heroes must join forces to defeat the spread of great and terrible evil.

As I wrote the first couple of chapters of Lost in Pain, I immersed myself in the world of Farion and began writing, From the Ashes as well. But if I have not written on a story in a while, sometimes it is difficult to pick back up where I left off. I return to the beginning of the chapter and reread what I have written to get back into the scene. On occasion, if I have left a story for a long time and I reread the entire book to get back into character’s lives and I also read my notes on where they are going and that usually gets me writing again.(less)

Small scavenging rodents, Rotta Mii Kus, are capable of creating great mischief. The devious nature of the Rotta Mii Kus has deluded many travelers in forests throughout Farion. While their adorable appearance and civilized mannerisms may fool even the strongest of warriors, the Rotta Mii Kus only lust after treasure.
