I’m a Hellcat, are you?

Hello love!

Sometimes, even in the midst of chaos, an opportunity to do good comes along and you know you can't ignore it. That's the story of Erada, an almost 80 year-old grandmother whose nephews are trying to force her out of her home.

I write stories about kickass heroines who fight the bullies not for fame and glory, but because it's the right thing to do. My heroines, and me, find it difficult to walk past someone who needs help.

So when a writer friend asked for ways to help save Erada's home, I knew I had to do something. But what? I don't have Taryn's wicked powerful ShantiMari, I can't actually turn into a dragon (no matter how many times I try!), and as much as it pains me to admit, I am rubbish with a sword.

But I have imagination and words.

Kate – my writer friend – came up with this crazy idea of putting together an anthology with ALL of the proceeds going to save Erada's home. Yes! I thought, I can do this. Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword was right. Huzzah!

The result of all this craziness is HELLCATS, an anthology of sixty-nine short stories centered around cats. Me-wow! (I'm #63, so make sure you keep reading to get to my story!)

The price? A ridiculous $3.99! Less than a grande Caramel Frappuccino! The anthology's also available on Kindle Unlimited, sweet!

It feels good to do good for someone else. I would be thrilled if you could help Erada and snag your copy of Hellcats today.

Happy Book Birthday to Fatal Assassin!

This past week I got hit by a wicked cold. And it was Thanksgiving yesterday, something they don't celebrate in the UK. That meant I was subjected to seeing all my friends' fabulous feasts on Facebook. Wow, I'm feeling a bit alliterative today!

Between the schnurgles and drooling over pics of turkey with all the fixin's, I had a book release this week!

FATAL ASSASSIN is live and out in the world! Happy book birthday to Cian and Nikala and all the characters in the Fatal Fae series.

This weekend, when I'm feeling more human, David and I are going to make a little holiday feast for ourselves and Lady Dazzleton. I'll raise a toast to all of my family and friends, near and far. I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving! If you're chasing deals this Black Friday, please consider books for all of your family and friends. They make excellent gifts.

Love and sparkles,

~Tameri

Capio Opportunity!

Apologies to any Latin speakers, I was going for a Carpe Diem feel with the title of this post.

Over the past year, I’ve heard a lot of people tell me why they could never do what David and I are doing—taking off adventuring without really knowing where or when we’re headed someplace new. And I’ve had a lot of people tell me how jealous they are of what we’re doing—moving to a foreign country with scads of charm and history.

Why? Why?

Why can’t you?

Why are you jealous?

More importantly… why aren’t you seizing opportunities?

This month, David and I get to live in Paris in this adorable flat near everything. Why? Because I made the opportunity happen. I didn’t wait for opportunity to knock—it rarely knocks, you know. It’s more like a gentle tap on your shoulder. Instead, I seized an opportunity that presented itself to me.

It was definitely one of those gentle taps on the shoulder things.

Here’s how it happened — I was chatting with a friend, she mentioned they’d bought a flat in Paris and instead of saying something like, ‘That’s great! I’m so jealous!’, I said, ‘Can I stay there?’. Sure, it was weird asking, but what did I have to lose? If she said no, oh well. But, she didn’t. She said sure!

It’s the same with our Edinburgh adventure. I didn’t wait for someone to offer us a chance to live there. We made it happen. It all started with asking…

I wish I could use a magic wand so everyone could see the magical possibilities all around them.

Because you know what? They’re there.

This is one of my favorite sayings ever. Know why? Because it’s so true! Dreams are amazing and awesome and fabulous to have, but if all you do is dream, then it’s just candy fluff in your brain.

Look for opportunities.
Pay attention.
Listen to your friends or family, or even people online.
Don’t be afraid to ask! If someone says no, that’s just an opportunity to look for the right fit for you. It’s out there—go find it!

This year, I’m asking myself, ‘How hard are you willing to work for it?’ because I’ve come to realize dreaming and passion aren’t enough. If I want something—truly desire it—what am I willing to give to get it. The world owes me nothing and nothing is free. What are my dreams worth to achieve them?

It all starts with a question. What is your dream? What are you willing to do to achieve it?

From David, Lady Dazzleton, and me in Paris, go live your dream!

xoxoxo,

From California to Scotland With Love

From here… To here!

About a year ago, my husband and I embarked on what we thought would be a 3-6 month adventure living and working in Scotland. Little did we know then how much that plan would alter the course of our lives.

We’d been to Edinburgh before and knew we liked the city, but after being here only a few months, we fell in love. Mad love. The kind that makes you do crazy things you wouldn’t normally do—like buy a flat in a foreign country that rains a good portion of the year.

For some, the idea of leaving San Diego’s paradise is inconceivable. Who wouldn’t want to have sunshine 358 days of the year? (I’m guessing here, it could really be 360 days of the year.)

I took this photo back in December on one of those picture-perfect, cloudless days Southern California is famous for. December in San Diego is pretty much like July in San Diego. You might have warmer days in July, but not by much! A few of the days we were home for Christmas, it was close to 80F (that’s Fahrenheit, or 26 Celsius). Having to learn metric has been, shall we say, interesting! Especially for cooking. Yikes.

To give a nice visual of the differences of San Diego and Edinburgh, this picture was taken a few days ago.

That’s frost on the grass. Frost. We don’t get much frost in San Diego, nor do we get snow (I’ve heard a rumor it snowed once when I was a kid, but that was a long time ago). This is one of the many reasons David and I love it in Edinburgh. We get seasons! Honest to goodness seasons where the leaves change color and Spring brings new buds to the naked trees. Yes, we get gale force winds that make me question my sanity, but we also have glorious, blue-sky days, too. Not as often as in San Diego, but often enough it doesn’t make me miss the sun.

A few of the reasons we love Edinburgh so much are—

Edinburgh is a big city without feeling like a big city. If you’ve ever been to New York or London, or even Los Angeles, or San Francisco, those cities feel big. They’re sprawling and ponderous. Edinburgh is quaint by comparison, yet you can get anywhere in the world from here by either train or plane.

David and I grew up in an area where you have to drive everywhere. Need groceries? Hop in the car. Out to see friends? Car. Go to the beach? Grab some towels and find parking for your car.

Not having a car is fabulous. We have a grocery across the street. Restaurants of every flavor are within walking distance to our flat. Clothing stores are literally around the corner from us. We can hop on a bus or tram and get wherever we need to go in the city.

We love the vibe of this city. Each August there’s a huge festival for film, art, literature, and entertainment and that’s wicked good fun, but all during the year there are other events going on that keeps Edinburgh vibrant and exciting. Plus! They have a huge Christmas Market that starts in November and ended just last week in January. There are lights and music and a huge Hogmanay celebration for New Year’s Eve. A lot of the festivities we were able to see from our lounge windows.

Want to know what I love most about Edinburgh? This is my view every single day. This was taken last Spring when the trees still had leaves, but look! Sun! I told you we get sunny days in Scotland.

Not only do I love that view, but I get to experience this wild life with the love of my life. We’re extremely fortunate that David is able to work here in Edinburgh. His job is flexible enough that he can still work with the guys in San Diego while here, and work with the guys in Edinburgh when we’re in California. To say we’re grateful to his company is a huge understatement! They’ve been wonderful in helping our dream become reality.

As for me, I can pretty much do my job anywhere I can plug in my laptop.

Scotland has already influenced my writing. There’s a magic here that seeps into every pore and infects me with wonder. The new Fatal Fae series I’m working on is set in Edinburgh and Faerie. The history of this country has given me ideas for future stories. You can’t help but be influenced by the majesty and beauty of this city.

I’ll be posting regular stories and updates here on the website, but if you’d like more pictures of our adventures (and of Lady Dazzleton, too!), hop over to my Facebook page and gives us a like. This year is going to be full of great stuff, I can’t wait to share it all with you!

Thank you for being part of this amazing life.

xoxo,

TWISTED by Tameri Tiara

A low trilling sound came from his laptop. Devon rose to see what had triggered the alarm. He punched a few keys, swearing at the image that came on the screen.

There, in soft shadows, was Michele in his dungeon. He stared, transfixed, as she ran her fingertips along the leather straps of his floggers. When she picked up a paddle and slapped it across her palm, he nearly came. What the fuck was this girl doing in his dungeon? Not even Sylvie went in there, and she was the only one besides him with a key.

Shit, Michele had Sylvie’s keys. Which meant she also had access to the club. The situation was going from bad to worse. He had to get her out of that room—out of his house, if he could. The image of her slapping her hand with the leather-bound paddle wedged itself deep, refusing to depart no matter how much he tried.

He slammed his laptop closed and stormed from the room. He’d show Michele exactly what kind of boss she was dealing with. He was not to be trifled with, and if she was going to work for him, there were rules to follow. First of which was no entering his dungeon. Ever.

His bare feet made little sound as he stalked down the stairs and across the marble floors of his entryway. His long strides had him to the dungeon in a matter of seconds, not nearly enough time for him to collect his thoughts. His fingers trembled against the cool doorknob and he took a long drag of air to calm himself. It wouldn’t do to enter his dungeon upset. Not with what hung on the walls, nor with what was meticulously organized in a chest of drawers at the ready. Especially not with Michele in there.

His cock gave another twitch and he cursed his attraction to the girl. He’d long since grown out of being a teenager, but his crush never seemed to dissipate. If he didn’t get it together, Sylvie would have his hide for breakfast. Keeping an image of his housekeeper firmly in his mind, he resolved to deal with the intruder as he would anyone else—without emotion.

The door opened with barely a sound. The stupid girl hadn’t even bothered to lock it after herself. Strike two.

He slipped into the room without her noticing his entrance. Her attention was held on the wall opposite, where his collection of erotic art covered the entire space. On silent feet, he stepped forward, not wanting to alarm her, but also curious what she was doing. From his vantage point, she seemed to be studying each piece. Not merely glancing at one and then moving to the next, but taking the time to inspect each item. A slim hand, pale like he remembered, reached forward and gently removed a jade cock ring from its velvet-covered stand. Her fingertips skimmed the surface as her lips moved silently. What was she saying? What did she think of this room? So many questions raced through his mind, none of which he was certain he wanted to know the answer to.

There was so much he wanted to say to her, but his mind went blank. Words dissipated until all he could think of was, “Hello, Misha.”

She jumped at the sound of his voice and a small yelp escaped her lips. The little vixen whirled around to face him, stopping his breath. If possible, she’d grown even lovelier in the past six years. A confidence he didn’t remember exuded from her, tempered by something else. Something elusive, dangerous.

“You scared the hell out of me, Devon.” She gripped the cock ring between her fingers.

“That’s five thousand years old. Please don’t drop it.”

“This?” She held up the jade. “Seriously?”

He took the ancient piece from her and replaced it on the stand next to a Neolithic dildo made of stone.

“Seriously.” He avoided looking at her eyes, her face, those lips. Christ, he wanted to kiss those lips. To suck on them until they turned bright crimson, and then watch as she wrapped them around his aching cock. “No one’s allowed in here without my permission. I don’t remember granting you a special request.”

Her cheeks flushed a charming pink and she stammered an answer. Her Irish accent got stronger with each word.

“I, er, Sylvie’s instructions were to tour the rooms. She didn’t say not to open this door, but she also didn’t say to specifically see this room. I suppose since it was locked, I should’ve guessed, but—” She looked away with a rough shake of her head.

That hair. He wanted to wrap his hand in it and tug until her head bent backwards, revealing that slim neck. His teeth ached to sink into her skin, to tease her relentlessly.

Twisted by Tameri Tiara

Fairytales were nothing but lies. Gallant knights spouting poetry? Damsels in distress? Fuck that.

Michele ran a fingertip across the creased paper balanced on her lap, tracing the line drawing she’d made on a previous trip to San Francisco when she was twelve and believed not just in fairytales, but the power of true love’s kiss. Had it really been a decade? A smile tugged at her lips, enticing her mood to lighten. She’d penciled the sketch a lifetime ago, it seemed. Back when she was young and full of romantic ideals. How she’d placed her trust in fairytales and desperately hoped that one day she’d find her prince charming.

That was before.

Before Devon Rhoades ruined everything for her.

Before she saw him again four years after making the drawing, when she was sixteen and he twenty-four. When she’d come to San Francisco for her uncle’s funeral and stood in his parent’s reception room, stoically accepting their condolences and he’d walked through the door. The very air had shifted with his presence. Then he spoke and it was like a thread had been woven through her heart to his, binding them with an invisible force.

His low, commanding tone had sent shivers racing down her spine to settle somewhere between her belly button and privates. Still a virgin, she’d had no idea what he’d done to her until sometime later when she had her first sexual experience and was left wanting. All those awkward kisses and uncertainty were about as far from romantic as they could get. Her next several forays into the world of sex would leave her feeling even more unsatisfied and confused.

What she wanted, no, what she needed, was the quiet domination Devon had shown in his parents’ house. Without even touching her, and while carrying on a benign conversation, she’d felt drawn to him, had a powerful urge to kneel at his feet and submit.
