I'm Still Here!

Hi all,

I'm embarrased to see that I last posted here nearly 6 yeears ago ... Just wanted you to know I am still around and still writing, but I disengaged from Goodreads for a while for various reasons. I have kept on adding books as I read them. I do find the star system for rating books a bit inadequate. You'll notice most of my ratings are a 4 or 5. That's because, if I really don't enjoy a book, I don't put it up here at all. I dislike the idea of giving something a low rating and/or a negative review, because reading tastes do differ. What I like you may hate and vice versa. Also, I know how much it hurts a writer to get bad reviews and low ratings, when most have put a lot of time and effort into creating the book.

I hope that makes sense! I'm currently reading a lot of fantasy in preparation for a panel at the World Fantasy Convention in the UK, coming up late Oct/early Nov. Maybe I will see some of you there. I will be receiving an award.

Beautiful Audio Book Release!

Beautiful
My folkloric novel, Beautiful, is out today in audio-book from Audible.com, read by the wonderful Gemma Dawson. Beautiful is based on the Danish fairy tale East of the Sun and West of the Moon, but expands the original story to include 'what happened next' as our young protagonist battles disadvantage to discover her true place in the world. A shorter version of Beautiful appears in the anthology Aurum, published by Ticonderoga Publications.

You should be able to download Beautiful from the Australian, US and UK Audible sites.

If you hop over to my Facebook author page tomorrow, May 31, you will get a chance to win a free download code for Beautiful. One day only, folks!

Note: Beautiful is one of the launch titles for Audible Originals in Australia, and is at present not available in print or ebook form.

Let's start with this link to my blog for Writer Unboxed about the role of the writer's dog - link below.
