I'm a mystery writer, so I'm very picky about thrillers. Defending Jacob is still one of my favorite books, with some jaw-dropping twists that actually made perfect sense (not always a given) when I read them. I even made a lengthy trek across town j

Melissa wrote: "Thanks for accepting my friend request! I look forward to reading your book."I think that's the first one I've gotten with a message. I didn't even know you could leave messages!
Wow! That's pretty impressive. It was inspired by a real chain of overseas boot camps. I have links to some articles on my web site.
I read your book Shock Point one summer, when I was eleven or twelve, and I still think about it almost every day.
Mullen wrote: ":) I loved Shock Point! I read it around the beginning of the summer (late June/ early July)and I still think about it every now and then!"Wow! Thanks. That was a fun book to write. And did you know there are really boot camps like that? Have you read my latest thriller, Girl Stolen?
:) I loved 'Shock Point'! I read it around the beginning of the summer (late June/ early July)and I still think about it every now and then! Thatcher is probably one of my favorite characters of all time.
Clare Bear wrote: "Oregonians unite!! =D"I didn't realize you were so close. LK Madigan and Lauren Kate and I will all be at Powells Beaverton on Saturday, October 2 and 2 pm if you ever get out that way and want to meet us.
PyroLily *...* wrote: "How do you wright so well? I need help. I have no clue what I'm doing, just thought I'd ask."The first thing is to read a lot. The more you read, the more you learn about writing. If you don't like something, think about why. If you do like something, think about why.
There's a good book by Gail Carson Levine called Writing Magic that will give you some good ideas about how to be a better writer. You can get it at the library.
It's like anything else - first you're not very good, but if you keep working at it you get better.
Wow! That is so cool! Thank you for passing it on. I have another book out called Torched, about a girl who goes undercover with a radical environmental group. And then next fall I'll have a new one about a blind girl who gets kidnapped called "Girl, Stolen"Thanks for sending me my first-ever message on Good Reads. I can't even figure out why it doesn't show my profile pic.
