I read non-fiction when I'm writing: Biography, History, Current Affairs, especially related to military, political, and scientific themes. Last read, "Conquerors: How Portugal Forged the First Global Empire" by Roger Crowley. When not writing, I read the best current fiction I can find, lately: "My Struggle", Karl Ove Knausgaard, "A Little Life", Hanya Yanagihara, "All the Light We Cannot See", Anthony Doerr.
